While other stars are busy giving away millions to the different Sept. 11 funds, "Dharma & Greg" star Jenna Elfman is giving back to the church -- the Church of Scientology.

The actress has announced plans to open the Church of Scientology Mission of San Francisco SoMa, reports the AP. Elfman is from San Francisco and SoMa, is the local term for the area south of Market Street.

/>She is not the first celebrity Scientologist to be so generous to the controversial religion, that some liken to a cult. Lisa Marie Presley, Isaac Hayes opened a chapter in Mephis, Tenn., and Kirstie Alley did likewise in Wichita, Kan.

The Los Angeles-based church was established in 1954 by science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard.
